Founders Lee and Jerry Woods opened the original Sutter's Mill at the corner of Foothill and Sayre in Sylmar. In the 1960s, they moved the restaurant to the corner of Sepulveda and Mission, where the Sutter's Mill story continued to grow. Over the years, the family added two more restaurants and a nightclub, building a legacy rooted in great food, family, and bringing people together.
After Lee and Jerry's passing, Sutter's Mill continued to evolve, moving two more times before finding its current home in Simi Valley on Cochran.
In 2007, their son Joe opened the current Simi Valley location, where he continues to own and operate Sutter's Mill today. The family tradition carries on through the generations, with the third and fourth generations learning the ropes and preparing to carry the legacy forward.
Through every location, every generation, and every table we've shared, one thing has remained the same: Sutter's Mill is family.
We are grateful to everyone who has walked through our doors, shared a meal with us, and supported our family along the way. Thank you for being part of our story—and for helping us keep the Sutter's Mill tradition alive for generations to come.
